Tronin' Yo repeats as Women's Champions

McKenzie leads Tronin' Yo to the Title

Basketball World Toronto's Summer League 2014 - Women's concluded this past Sunday August 24th, 2014 at Ryerson Universty - Mattamy Athletic Centre. The finals featured the #3 seed Tronin' Yo vs. the #4 seed Storm in a matchup of previous champions.

The game was meant to be a classic as both teams have been Champions in BWT's Women's Division and each team was battling for bragging rights. Tronin' Yo were led by #6 Amanda Lum, #9 Tanesha McKenzie and #11 Alisha Tatham. Storm were led by their dynamic duo of #2 Jahlica Kirnon and #22 Hali Burns. By the teams reached the half, Tronin' Yo led 30-16. As the second half got under way, Storm started to make a comeback, edging closer with every basket, but Tronin' Yo was not to be undone and finished the 4th quarter strong. As the final seconds wound down, Tronin' Yo held onto their lead and defeated Storm 49-35 to take Basketball World Toronto's Summer League 2014 - Women's Division Championship.

Playoff & Finals MVP was #9 Tanesha McKenzie from Tronin' Yo who finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.

Congratulations and thank you to all players who participated in the Summer League 2014 and we look forward to seeing you all in BWT’s Fall 2014 Women's Division starting the second week in September.

Great summer fun for all Summer Camp participants

BWT Youth Summer Camps offered boys and girls a high quality basketball setting to learn and develop their skills in the game of basketball. The goal of the camps was to focus on teaching the core fundamental skills required to play basketball. The camps consisted of daily training sessions, practice sessions, small competitions and games to help each camper with their own development. Over 60 campers participated in these high energy and exciting camps, learing all areas of the game including defense, conditioning, footwork, dribbling, ball handling, and shooting. Thanks to all of the coaches and participants this summer.
