Mike's Story

"My name is Michael Reio and I founded Basketball World Toronto (BWT), a non-profit grassroots basketball organization.  My passion and interest in basketball started when I was young playing every weekend on local outdoor courts and at school.  As my passion for basketball grew, I pursued a Sports Management Degree and an internship with the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club.  My basketball experiences fostered my desire to address the need for high-quality non-professional basketball programming. In 2006, I founded Basketball World Toronto and made it my commitment to help develop the sport of basketball.   Over the past 13 years, we have impacted the lives of close to 15K individuals by creating positive high-quality programs for youth, women and men that teach basketball skills, leadership development, and foster a positive basketball culture in our city.  I firmly believe that basketball can teach anyone life skills and how to become a better community member".
