The East All-Star squad defeats the West 61-53

On Saturday July 26th, Basketball World Toronto hosted their All Star Game at Ryerson’s Mattamy Center, showcasing the league’s best talent. Starting off the festivities on Saturday was the Men’s Competitive Division All Star Game.

The game proved to be an even matchup of both the Men’s Competitive Thursday and Sunday divisions. The West All-Stars took the lead 34-28 heading into halftime, led by Said Samateer’s 10 points. The East opened the second half with a strong defensive presence, capitalizing on the West’s turnovers. The East, led by Phil Jevtovic’s 8 points in the quarter and Matt Hunters 7 points took a commanding 49-45 lead heading into the fourth quarter and would never look back.

The East would hold off a late game push by the West to win BWT’s Men’s Competitive Division All-Star Game 61-52.

Phil Jevtovic of the East All-Stars would take home the hardware for the game’s MVP with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
