This past weekend marked the 25th annual Bay Street Hoops charity basketball tournament. The tournament ran from Thursday, March 28th to Saturday, March 30th 2019 at the University of Toronto's Athletic Centre downtown. This year the tournament supported two amazing beneficiaries, the Drive for Dreams Foundation and KidSport Ontario.
The tournament had 54 teams competing in 8 different divisions; Evolve ETFS Men's Competitive, Saputo Men's Recreational A, CIBC Mellon Men's Recreational B, Scotiabank Men's Recreational C, TD Securities Men's Recreational D, Bloomberg Co-Ed Division, CIBC Women's Division, Drive for Dreams Foundation Masters Division. The final day, Saturday, March 30th included the 3-point shoot-out contest and a Kids Clinic run by Q-Mack.
Congratulations to Arun Kumar from team Ted Rogers MBA and Julian Montoya from team Rotman MBAllers for winning the 3-point contest! A special shoutout goes to Sam Boateng for being the hype man of this contest since 2012.
There were many sponsors that helped make this event a success. For over 10 years, Sutherland-Chan School - Massage Therapy has been great supporters of the Bay Street Hoops tournament. This year players had the awesome opportunity to receive complimentary massages between games.
Not only did the sponsor's help make the event a success but a huge shoutout goes to the volunteers that were committed to the tournament all weekend. Thanks to Z-Teca Mexican Eatery the volunteers received complimentary food!
The Post-Game Party took place on the final day of the tournament at Walrus Pub & Beer Hall (187 Bay Street, Toronto). This was a great opportunity for players, sponsors and volunteers to celebrate together. A charity auction also took place during the party and included items donated by tournament sponsors and local businesses.
