FUNdamentals Clinic (Community Coaching) - Details
FUNdamentals Coaching Course - Full Course
The FUNdamentals course has been developed by Canada Basketball, in conjunction with the Coaching Association of Canada, to deliver an extensive coach education program for the volunteer coach. It provides any individual or entry-level coach with the necessary skills, knowledge, and materials to deliver a safe, fun, and age/stage-appropriate basketball experience for children from six to nine years of age.
In this delivery model, participants attend the full six-hour FUNdamentals course. This features both the 3-hour on-court drills and skills session, which teaches coaches how to properly develop basketball fundamentals, as well as the 3-hour in-class session, to assist in practice planning, ethical coaching, and how to guide a team through a season.
- Note: Participants entering into a community coach course must read and print off the Pre-Task prior to attending the course.

Learn to Train (NCCP Level 1) - Details
NCCP Certified Course - Learn to Train (Introduction to Competition) - Full Course
- The “Level One” certification has been updated. All new coaches with Ontario Basketball should take the new NCCP certification course called Learn to Train. The registration for these courses is listed below.
Learn to Train (L2T) is a competency-based course.
- Most courses occur on weekends and consist of two eight-hour days. Topics covered include making ethical decisions, planning practice, and how to develop skills through modified games. Approximately one-quarter of the course will take place in the gym on a basketball court, so participants must be prepared with appropriate gear.

Train to Train (NCCP Level 2) - Details
NCCP Certified Course - Train to Train (Train to Compete) - Full Course

How to get a Coaching Certification Program Number
All registered participants will be responsible for providing the learning facilitator with their National Coaching Certification Program number (NCCP#) at the start of the clinic. If you do not already have one, you can create one using the instructions below:
STEP 1: CREATE AN NCCP#
- Go to www.coach.ca, click on "My Locker" in the top right hand corner, then select "Profile."
- Click on "Don't have an account? Create one now!"
- Check the box that says “I agree” and CONTINUE and then, in the next screen, the box that says “I want to create a Locker account for access to my transcript, eLearning opportunities, to sign up for coaching events, and more!”
- Fill in the required information
- Then click the Register button. A link will be emailed to the email address that you provided.
- Sign in to the email address that you entered when you registered. You will have a link from The Locker (coach@coach.ca). Click on the link in the bottom paragraph (“To log in to The Locker, please first click here to create a password for your new account.”). You will be taken back to The Locker and asked to create a password.
- Once the password is created, you will be logged in! To get your NCC#, click on the PROFILE icon in the top right-hand corner. Your NCCP# will be visible directly below your name (top left-hand corner of the screen).
STEP 2: CREATE A GAMEPLAN ACCOUNT
- Go to https://gameplanbasketball.ca/ and on the bottom of the left-hand menu, click the red REGISTER button.
- MAKE SURE THAT YOU SELECT THE FREE VERSION AT THE TOP and then enter all of your information as requested (including your NCCP#).
- You will receive a confirmation email.
