Basketball World Toronto's Fall 2012 - Men's Competitive A Division Finals will be held TONIGHT - Sunday December 16th, 2012 at 7:00pm at Ryerson University - Kerr Hall Gym - 31 Gerrard Street, Toronto, ON. The game the 3rd place Peel Quasars (Navy) vs the 4th place Vytis (Black). Please enter and go to the 2nd floor and follow the signs to the Kerr Hall Gym. There is no cost to spectators and you can come for anytime after 5:45pm.

BWT - Fall 2012 - Men's Competitive A Division - All Star Game
On Saturday November 24th, 2012, Basketball World Toronto was proud to present BWT's - Fall 2012 - Men's Competitive A Division - All-Star Game. The game featured this season's best men's basketball players from BWT's Men's Competitive A Division.
The East All-Stars jumped out to an early lead behind David Akelaitis (#8) and Alister George (#11). The West countered with a balanced attack from Matt Kokish (#9) and big inside played from Duncan Reid (#11) and James Clark (#10). The first half ended with the East out to a 46-28 lead. In the second half, the East continued to pour it on outscoring the West 23-12 in the quarter. The West fought hard and tried to close the gap, but they could not overcome the difference. The game finished with the East defeating the West 86-65. Alister George was awarded with the game MVP with 17 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 13 rebounds. Congratulations Alister on receiving this award!

BWT - Fall 2012 - Men's Competitive A Division Championship
On Sunday December 16th, 2012, Basketball World Toronto held the finals for the Men's Competitive A Division at Ryerson University. The game featured two perennial favorites in Peel Quasars (3rd) vs Vytis (4th Place) as they battled it out for BWT's Men's Competitive A Division Fall 2012 Championship.
Team Vytis jumped out to a quick first quarter lead behind solid inside play from Alex Zmnickas (#15) and slashing moves from Taj Forde (#11) and Matt Akelaitis (#3). But the Peel Quasars kept it close behind solid play from Patrick Tatham (#15) and some sharp shooting from Andew Motta (#8). At the half Vytis lead 28-25. The second half was made up of both teams attacking each other and earning the majoirty of points from the charity stripe. In the 4th, with everything on the line, Vytis started to pour it on, but David Martin (#6) from Peel Quasars finished strong with some key baskets and steals as he helped his team close out the win 58-55. Martin was awarded with the game MVP finishing with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. BWT - Fall 2012 - Men's Competitive B Division Championship
On Sunday December 16th, 2012, Basketball World Toronto held the finals for the Men's Competitive B Division at Ryerson University. The game featured the #2 seed Flint Tropics vs. reigning champion KPMG (who upset the #1 squad) in the semi-finals.
The game started off quickly with the Flint Tropics breaking out to a slight lead behind sharp shooting from Robbie Leibel (#3) and Said Samater (#5). KPMG countered in the 2nd quarter behind their leader Chris Barrett (#6) and a balanced play from the rest of KPMG. At the half, KPMG lead 34-30. The second half saw more of Barrett (#6) as he lead KPMG building on their lead. But the Flint Tropics started to chip away with a balanced attack behind Ben Sormonte (#12) and Adam Miller (#11). As the final horn sounded, Flint Tropics edged KPMG 62-61 to take BWT's Fall 2012 Men's Competitive B Division Championship. The MVP was awarded to the Flint Tropics Ben Sormonte (#12) who finished with 10 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. On Saturday November 24th, 2012, Basketball World Toronto was proud to present BWT's - Fall 2012 - Men's Competitive B Division - All-Star Game. The game featured the East All-Stars vs. the West All-Stars in an evenly matched game.
The West All-Stars started the game off strong led by slashing forwards Devin Coward (#20) and Ben Sormonte (#22). The East countered with Jelani Deliovsky (#7) who led all scorers in the first half with with 12 points. Battling through the 3rd quarter, the West continued to build its lead and never looked back winning the game 63-46. The East's Ben Sormonte (#22) was awarded the game MVP as he finished with 19 points, 5 assists, 6 steals and 16 rebounds. Congratulations Ben on receiving this award!

BWT's Men's Summer League 2012 - Competitive A Division Championship Game Summary
Made to Amaze
BWT's Summer2012 Men's Competitive A Division Championship Game was held on Sunday August 19th, 2012 at George Brown College and featured Gunners vs. Made to Amaze. The game was the culmination of BWT's Men's Competitive A Division League which features some of the best men's players in the city of Toronto.
The game was a matchup of the 1st place Gunners and second place Made to Amaze. At the start of the game Gunners jumped out to an early lead behind Tristain Stern (#15) who scored 7 points in the first quarter and accumulated 13 points by the half. At the half, Gunners held strong with a 8 point lead, with a score of 29-21. After half Made to Amaze came out blazing and outscored Gunners 16-7 in the third quarter. After the third Made to Amaze had taken the lead by one with a slim lead of 37-36. Throughout the second half Made to Amaze was lead by Fueuk Yaya (#4) who scored 18 points alone, 12 of those 18 points were three pointers. For that effort plus the hustle of his team mates Made to Amaze took BWT's Summer 2012 Championship. Fueuk Yaya (#4) was nominated Finals MVP with 21 points, 1 steals,1 assists and 7 rebounds.

BWT's Men's Summer League 2012 - Competitive B Division Championship Game Summary
KPMG
BWT's Summer 2012 Men's Competitive B Division Championship Game was held on Sunday August 19th, 2012 at George Brown College and featured KPMG vs. Flint Tropics. The game was the culmination of BWT's Men's Competitive B Division league.
The game was a matchup of the 2nd place Flint Tropics and KPMG who finished the regular season 4th place over all and battled through the play-offs defeating the 1st place Goonies last week. The game started off even with a score of 16-16 at the end of the first quarter. However the second quarter was a different story. KPMG lead by Trevor Smith(#8), who scored 11 points, outscored Flint Tropics by 17 points that quarter. The first half came to a end with a score of 40-23. As the second half got underway Flint Tropics came out determined to narrow the deficit or even take the lead. At that they were successful in their goal of outscoring their opponents which was on thing to overcome. Lead by Eugene Kotorobai (#15) scoring a quarter high 8 points and narrowed the lead to 13 points. Once the fourth quarter got underway KPMG did not want anything to stand in their way. The leadership of their captain, Khal Ahsan (#13) lead his team to victory with 8 points in the 4th and leading KPMG to winning their first BWT Championship. Trevor Smith (#8) was elected BWT Finals MVP with a stat line of, 23 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 4 rebounds.

Fall 2012 - Men's Corporate Rec Championship
On Tuesday, February 5th, 2013, Basketball World Toronto held the finals for the Men's Corporate Rec Division which helps to raise funds for the Bay Street Hoops Basketball Organization Chairities. The game featured the reigning champions PwC vs. the new kid on the block KPMG Advisory. Both teams battled it out for the Corporate Rec Championship title.
PwC jumped out to an early lead behind their PG (#1) Chris Barrett and a balanced attack inside from PF (#9) Mike Loughry and PF (#4) Jordan Domey. But KPMG Advisory had its own secret weapons, SG (#2) Aditaya Sharma and SG (#15) Matt Mahoney. Sharma was not afraid to d-up various players from PwC and was able to score upon will. Mahoney had the enviable task of defending Barrett and attempting to slow down his scoring power. At the half PwC lead 25-15. The second half was much of the same. KPMG Advisory fought valiantly making several runs to close the gap. But as the clock winded down, it was Barrett and PwC who turned on the jets and cinched the title 52-32. Barrett was awarded with the game MVP finishing with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 8 steals and 1 block.

On Tuesday, February 5th, 2013, Basketball World Toronto held the finals for the Men's Corporate Competitive Division which helps to raise funds for the Bay Street Hoops Basketball Organization. The game featured two perennial favorites in Blakes vs Ascendant. Both teams battled hard for the Corporate Competitive Championship title and bragging rights.
Ascendant jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter behind a solid display of team basketball. Countering was Blakes who managed to keep it close with an answer of their own as PG Dwight Lauder (#21) and Toby Scott (#6) kept the ball moving. Blakes' Ken Morris (#5) and Ascendants Luis Lemus (#2) traded buckets throughout the game, often going three pointer for three pointer, all while guarding each other. At the half Ascendant lead 37-33. The second half was made up of both teams attacking each other and earning the majoirty of points from the charity stripe and on offensive rebounds. In the 4th, with everything on the line, Blakes' Toby Scott really turned up his scoring and rebounding as he pushed his team over the cusp for the very close 70-66 victory. Scott was awarded with the game MVP finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

BWT's Men's Corporate League - Spring 2012 - Competitive Division Final was held on Thursday, June 7th at George Brown College. This game was a heated battle between the second place Dhillon Litigation and the fourth place team Team BWT. Team BWT came through with the win 45-34 to claim the BSHBL Competitive Division FInals. The Finals MVP was awarded to Ari Hunter of Team BWT who scored 17 points, 3 steals, 1 assist and 10 rebounds. Congradulations Ari.

BWT Men's Corporate League - Spring 2012 - Rec Division Champion - Ernst & Young
BWT's Men's Corporate League - Spring 2012 - Rec Division was held on Thursday, June 7th at George Brown College. This game featured the second place Ernst & Young vs. top seed RBC. The two teams battled it out untill the end but it was Ernst & Young who squeezed through with the narrow win, with the final score of 35-34. We would also like to congradulate Kevin Horgan on being selected as the Finals MVP who scored 10 points, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 assist and 5 rebounds. Congradulations Kevin.
