BWT - Men's Summer League 2010 - League Championship Game

BWT Men's Competitive Summer League Champions Red Knights

BWT's Men's Summer League 2010 Championship Game was held on Monday August 16th, 2010 at the Air Canada Centre - Toronto Raptors Practice Court. The game featured a match of previous BWT Champions. From the Eastern Conference was Spartan Warriors and from the Western Conference was Assasins. Before the game started, everyone knew that is was going to go down to wire.

The teams have know each other for a long time and so both teams had bragging rights on the line. The game started off with Spartan Warriors jumping out to a quick lead behind Mark Perrin (#8). As he slashed through the defense, they also had their big man in the centre Sheldon James (#21) clean up the offensive board. Countering from Assassins was aggressive guard play combined wtih their own inside presence of Ifeanyi Ehirim (#24). Iffe was dominant in the paint and kept his team in the game. As the time winded down to half, the score was 30-24 for Spartan Warriors

In the second half, Assassins started to pour it on and closed the gap quickly. Behind excellent guard play from Deon King (#3), Anthony Guada (# 15) and Nolan Gooding (#32), the slashed through the defense of Spartan Warriors and finished on the break. Spartan Warriors tried to keep the lead, but it was cut slowly and surely. With 25 seconds to go, the score was tied at 48. Deon King made a baseline jumper and sealed the win for Assassins. But it was the consistent inside scoring power of Ifeanyi Ehirim that won the Assassins the game and earned Ifeanyi the MVP of the Game/Playoffs as he finished wtih 20 points, 1 steal, 1 assist and 7 rebounds.

BWT Winter 2010 - Men's All-Star Game and MVP

 

On Saturday July 24th, 2010, Basketball World Toronto was proud to present BWT's Men's Summer League 2010 - All-Star Game. This game featured some of this year's best men's basketabll players in the city of Toronto as the East All-Stars faced the West All-Stars in an action packed game.

This game began with both teams feeling each other out. The West was a run and gun squad who consistently pushed the tempo while the East tried to use a more balanced inside-outside approach. The West were led in the first half by Cam Eb (#11)( and Nick Fadayel (#24). The East were led by the inside presence of Roger Scott (#32 and outside shooting of Justin Phillips (#21). At the half time the Wst led the East All-Stars 25-13.

Starting the second half, the West All-Stars really started to gel. Led behind Nolan Gooding (#23) who was slashing through the East's defense and dishing out tpo Nick Fadayel (#24), the West started to build a lead. The East tried to counter by pounding the ball inside to Roger Scott (#34) who continued to make an impact in the paint and pound the board for offensive rebounds. However, the West All-stars kept the waves of players coming and were not going to be denied. When the horn sounded the West had built a big lead and took the all-star game title 55-39. The MVP award was given to the West's Nolan Gooding (#23) who finished with 16 points, 1 steal, 2 assists and 5 rebounds.

BWT - Summer League 2010 - Dunk Contest

Also held during the half time break was BWT’s Summer League 2010 Men's Dunk Contest.  The crowd was entertained by three high-flying participants.  Courtney Small of the West Division Gunners was followed by the West Division's Vaughan Daley of Ronin and finally Justin Phillips of the East Division's Heft. Courntey started off the dunk contest wtih an alley-oop 360 scoring 36 out of 4-. Vaughan followed up that dunk with a tomahawk reverse dunk scoring 35 out of 40. Finally, Justin's first dunk was a 180 reverse dunk taking off from the opposite side of the key scoring 36 out of 40. The second dunks were started off again by Courtney Small who tried a 360 from the baseline but could not put it down and finished with 62 points in total. Next up was Vaughan Daley who put down a left handed leaning tomahawk dunk and finished with a total of 73. Finally, it was down to Justin Phillips. Justin put down a fully extended right handed dunk taking off from the half circle and finished with a high score of 75 out of 80 points.

BWT - Summer League 2010 - Men's 3Pt Contest
At half-time of BWT's Summer League 2010 - All-Star Games, BWT's 3-Point Contest took place for both Men and Women. The men's contest consisted of 3 shooters for the Summer Season. First off was Reynold James (40.5%) of KPMG shooting first, Nick Fadayel (41.3%)of Man Dem United shooting second and followed by Arun Kumar (53.2%) shooting last. Shooting from the NBA 3-PT line, Reynold made 5 shots, Nick made 9, but Arun connected on 12 of his 3PT shots including 5 in a row to claim the title of BWT's Men's 3PT Contest Championship.

Men's Competitive - West - Division Champions & MVP

BWT Men's Division Champions & MVP

BWT would like to officially announce the presentation of the Division Champions trophy and the MVP Award for BWT's Men's Summer League 2010 - Men's Competitive - West Division.

The Division Trophy was awarded to Man Dem United. Accepting the award was the captain #5 - Tyrell Vernon and the entire team.

The MVP Award was awarded to Nick Fadayel (#24) who finished the regular season with 18.0 points per game, 1.2 steals per game, 2.0 assists per game and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Congratulations to Man Dem United and Nick Fadayel on their achievements this season.

Men's Competitive - East - Division Champions & MVP

BWT would like to officially announce the presentation of the Division Champions trophy and the MVP Award for BWT's Men's Summer League 2010 - Men's Competitive - East Division.

The Division Trophy was awarded to team Heft. Accepting the award was the Captain - Moses Ma (#3) and the rest of his teammates.

The MVP Award was awarded to Nik McLeod (#5) who finished the regular season with 16.7 points per game, 2.4 steals per game, 1.1 blocks, 1.6 assists per game and 7.0 rebounds per game.

Congratulations to Heft and Nik McLeod on their achievements this season.

BWT would like to officially announce the Men's Summer League 2010 - All-Star Game participants. The game will be held on Saturday July 24th, 2010 at 7:15PM at the Air Canada Centre on the Toronto Raptors Main Court. The game will feature the East All-Stars vs. the West All-Stars as well as a 3PT Contest and Dunk Contest.

The game is FREE TO ALL SPECTATORS. Just come down to the Air Canada Centre - Gate 1 for 6:00PM on Saturday July 24th, 2010. So if you are interested, come and check out some of the best men's basketball players in Toronto battle it out for supremacy and bragging rights.

The award was given to Arun Kumar (#3) of Man Dem United. Arun scored a season high 37 points on 11 for 16 shooting from 3PT land. In a high scoring affair, Kumar was instrumental in ensuring his team came out on top of the battle with Bad News Bears. Arun also contributed 3 steals, 2 assists and 4 rebounds. Finishing 1st the West Division, Man Dem United will look to continue their success as they play the first round of playoffs this Sunday as they take on the winner of the Assassins vs. Bad News Bears (who play on Saturday).
