Men's Competitive Summer 2008 - League Championship Game

BWT's Men's League - Summer 2008 Championship Game was held on Monday Augsut 25th, 2008 at the Air Canada Centre - Toronto Raptors Practice Court. The game featured South Division Champions - Spartan Warriors vs. the West Division Champions - Vytis.
The competitive game featured the run and gun Vytis vs. a balanced inside outside attack of the Spartan Warriors. The game started off with the Spartan Warriors dominating the paint with Sheldon James(#21) and then countering with sharp shooting 3-PT's from Sanel Sehic (#23). Vytis countered with a balanced scoring from Matthew Akelaitis (#15) and their own inside scoring touch from Alex Zimnickas (#34). At the half, the Spartan Warriors had built an 8 point lead and led at the break 32-24.
As the second half got under way, the game got physical with Vytis countering every basket their opponents could score. Vytis attacked wtih the Alekaitis brothers (Mark(#21), David (#8), Chris (#11) and Matthew (#3)) scoring at will on the break and then feeding their big man Alex Zimnickas (#34) from everywhere in the paint. However, Spartan Warriors were tried and tested and ready for the physical game. They countered with some great point guard direction by Ssanel Sehic (#23) and then dominating the paint by Sheldon James (#21) Finishing the 2nd half with 8 points, Sheldon James helped to ensure his team never faltered. On the way to being selected BWT's Playoff / Championship Game MVP, Sheldon James from Spartan Warriors finished wtih 15 points, 7 blocks, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal

Men's Competitive Summer 2008 - All-Star Game, 3-Point Contest, Dunk Contest & MVP.

BWT's Men's Summer League All-Star Game was held this past Tuesday August 12th, 2008 at the Air Canada Centre - Toronto Raptors Practice Court at 7:30PM. The game featured the East All-Stars vs. the West All-Stars as well as a 3PT Contest and Dunk Contest at halftime.
The East All-Stars defeated the West All-Stars in a highly competitive game 81-79. Radhi Knapp (#34) from the East All-Stars was named the games MVP finishing with 20 points, 2 steals, 4 assists and 9 rebounds.
In the 3 Point Contest, Ryan McNeilly (#4) from the South Division walked away wtih the crown as he consecutively finished off his opponents in the first round and did not even look back in the championship round. Finally, in the Dunk Contest, Marlon MacLean excited the crowd as he threw down incredible dunk after dunk.

Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 10

BWT's - Men's Summer League 2008 - Player of the Week - Week 10 was awarded to the East Division’s – Donovan Gayle (#24) from the Huskies. Scoring 35 points on 8/14 FG's and 5/10 3-PT's, Gayle led his team in a huge upset of the first place team - Assassins. The Huskies broke out to a quick early lead and never looked back. In addition, to his points, Donovan finished with 5 assists and 8 rebounds as his team ended the season with a statement game.
Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 9

BWT's - Men's Summer League 2008 - Player of the Week - Week 9 was awarded to the South Division’s – Simon Farine (#4) from The Red Knights. Scoring 25 points on 5/8 FG's and 6/7 FT's, Farine helped his team defeat the former 1st place Spartan Warriors. Finishing with 3 steals, 4 assists and 6 rebounds Simon helped his team move into 4th place in the league.
Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 8

The South Division’s – Radhi Knapp (#00) from The Boyz was selected as BWT's Player of the Week for Week 8. Scoring 34 points on 9/16 FG's and 4/7 3-PT's, Radhi finished with 11 rebounds in his team's come from behind win over the 4th place team. 4th in the South Division in scoring at 17.9 PPG, Knapp has team firing on all cylinders and ready for the playoffs.
Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 7

The East Division’s – Nolan Gooding (#23) from the Assassins was selected as BWT's Player of the Week for Week 7. Nolan scored 31 points on 7-9 FG and 5-8 3-PT's to go along with 7 assists, 4 steals and 14 rebounds in his team's dominant win over the 4th place team. Leading the league in scoring at 22.7 PPG Gooding has led his team to first place in the division and an undefeated record of 7-0.
Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 6

BWT's - Men's Summer League 2008 - Player of the Week - Week 6 was awarded to the East Division’s – Nigel Clarke (#34) from Team Best Kept Secret. Clarke led his team in scoring with 27 points (shooting 6/6 3-Pt's) and finished with 2 steals, 3 assists and 10 rebounds in his team's win against the Huskies. In the middle of the pack, the Best Kept Secret at 3 and 3 is making a move to challenge the leaders in the East Division. Congrats to a great game.
Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 5

The South Division’s – Michael Allicock (#11) from Gunners was selected as BWT's Player of the Week for Week 5. Allicock led his team in scoring 24 points and finished with 3 steals, 2 assists and 8 rebounds in an action packed game which went down to the wire against Triple Threat. After losing the first 2 games of the season, the Gunners are back in the mix at 3-2 and starting to peak in the middle of the season and ready for a strong finish to the season.
Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 4

The East Division’s – Wills Francis (#34) from Team Vortex was selected as BWT's Player of the Week for Week 4. Wills led his team in scoring with 27 points (shooting 8/11 FG's and 11/11 FT's) and finished with 3 steals, 1 assist and 4 rebounds as his team won a highly contested game against the Huskies. The win boosted the Vortex's record to 3-1 and a 2nd Place tie in the East Division.
Men's Competitive League - Summer 2008 - Player of The Week - Week 3

The West Division’s – Marvin Binney (#5) from the Urban Knights was selected as BWT's Player of the Week for Week 3. Marvin led his team in scoring with 20 points (shooting 3/7 on 3-PT), 3 steals, 6 assists and 6 rebounds as his team defeated the Apostles in a highly competitive game. The game boosted the Urban Knights record to 2-1 and was a key win in the division. Fourth overall in the division in scoring, Binney's solid play helped direct his team to the win.

The South Division’s – Aaron Duncan (#24) from The Commission, was selected as BWT's Player of the Week for Week 2. In a highly competitive game against Triumph, Duncan led his team to a convincing win over a relentless Triumph team. Aaron put up 24 points (4-9FG), 2 steals, 1 block, 4 assists & 10 rebounds in addition to a strong defensive presence on the court to help secure the win and place his team at the top of the standings in the South Division.

The South Division’s – Mark Perrin (#15) from Spartan Warriors led his team to a come from behind victory in their first game of the regular season against The Boyz. Mark was selected as BWT's Player of the Week for Week 1 of BWT’s Men’s Summer League as he put up 26 points, 4 steals and 14 rebounds in the win.
