Men's Fall League 2006 - League Championship Game

BWT Men's Competitive Summer League Champions Red Knights

BWT'S Fall 2006 Men's Competitive Division Championship Game was played on Friday December 29, 2006 at the Air Canada Centre - Toronto Raptors Main Court. The game was an even match up of the young and gunning Panthers and their arch rivals, the quick passing and strategic East Coast. The game opened up quickly with some great ball movement by East Coast. They utilized their height advantage and pounded the boards. Led behind a balanced inside scoring by Matej Cresnik (#34) and sharp outside shooting from Ryan Michalski (#24) East Coast got up by an early 15 points. But the Panthers put together a strong run towards the end of the 1st half and closed the margin behind strong guard play and 9 points from Matthew McLean (#5). The half ended with East Coast leading 29-18.

In the second half, the Panthers started out hot with some key steals by Kadeem Stephens (#32) and 3 blocks & 8 points from Kurt Beckford. They up'd the tempo and were out and running. Building on his strong first half, Matthew McLean(#5) scored another quick 7 points and helped the Panthers close the gap to just 4 points. But East had too balanced of an attack. With steady guard play from Shaun Alie (#11) and Jason Stephens (#30) attacking the offensive glass and picking up 3 key offensive rebounds, the Panthers could not get the game any closer. East Coast worked the ball inside to their big man again and Matej Cresnik (#34) finished the game strong with 7 points in the final 5 minutes to seal the victory for East Coast and the MVP trophy.

Congratulations to East Coast on the victory and to both teams for a great Championship Game and a great season.

See you all in the 2007 Winter Season.
