About Basketball World Toronto

Basketball World Toronto (BWT) is a registered non-profit founded in 2006 to meet a need for high-quality basketball programs in the city of Toronto. The founder sought the need to improve basketball programs by taking a more authentic basketball approach to the development and management of the programs. Since its inception, BWT has created more value in the basketball market by developing professionally organized and managed programs that enhance the level of play of basketball in Toronto. BWT's programs have grown in size each year, to the point where BWT is one of the largest providers of basketball programs and services in Toronto.


Mission

To develop the best all-around basketball programs and players in Toronto for the love of the game. 


Vision

Basketball World Toronto's long term vision is to help develop grassroots basketball through combining program participation and basketball knowledge to elevate the game. We hope to create a positive basketball culture by managing professional programs and training for anyone who participates in the game.

About the Founder

BWT - Founder - Michael Reio

Michael Reio is a graduate of McMaster University's Kinesiology program, as well as Durham College's Sports Management Program, is an N.C.C.P. trained coach and certified T.A.B.O. basketball official.  Michael has been coaching for over 15 years at levels from community all the way up to varsity high school players or to anyone interested and willing to improve their skills. Michael's love and passion for the game are the reason he started Basketball World Toronto. He believes that the sport of basketball is a way to develop self-esteem, confidence, and to develop a work ethic and focus while becoming well-rounded individuals and members of the local community.
